He will be missed, and his wonderful impact remains. His book, Impro is a solid entry in the improv book canon, and his general approach to improv has strong influences across the globe. There was a sort of multiple discovery of modern improv surfacing in the US through Spolin/Paul Sills/Del Close, and in England and then Canada through Johnstone. Johnstone is one of the modern founding figures of improv, and shares a lot with Viola Spolin in terms of coming at it first from an educational perspective.
